Policy IJK Supplementary Materials Selection and Adoption provides guidance for supplemental educational materials that support the educational program.

C.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)
 
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school.Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out 2022-2023 (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”

Board Policy JFAB allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that non-resident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation.The Board will hold nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA, admission of resident students.The district may change tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.”
 
  1. Request to Admit Foreign Exchange Students – 2023-2024 (Dr. Minolfo)
 
School Board Policy JFABB establishes guidelines for the admission of the exchange students to the high schools in the School District of Aiken County.
 
  1. Bridgestone Americas Tire Operation, LLC. Donation to Midland Valley High School – FY23 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Midland Valley High School baseball program has been given a $2500.00 donation from Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC.The funds will be used for baseball operations, supplies, equipment, maintenance and uniforms.
 
 
  1. The Gifting Tree Donation to Leavelle McCampbell Middle School – FY23 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Leavelle McCampbell Middle School was given a $1,110.00 donation from the The Gifting Tree.The funds from this donation will be used to support the Valley Empty Bowl event.
 
 
  1. Gloverville First Baptist Church Donation to Gloverville Elementary School – FY23 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Gloverville Elementary has received a $1,200.00 donation from the Gloverville First Baptist Church.The funds will be used to purchase supplies for the nurse including spare clothing for students.Any remaining funds will be used for general supplies teachers may need for their classrooms.
 
 
  1. South Carolina Arts Commission – District Arts Support Grant Submission – Aiken County Public School District – FY24 (Dr. Edwards)
 
The Instructional Services Division of Aiken County Public School District is requesting to submit a grant application for the South Carolina Arts Commission – District Arts Support Grants.The maximum grant award is $25,000 per year for two years ($50,000 total). The purpose of the 2023 District Arts Support Grant is to support school districts committed to implementing standards-based art curricula and to make the arts an integral part of the basic curriculum and daily classroom instruction.
 
  1. Change Order #2 for the New Car Loop at J.D. Lever Elementary Paving Project (Dr. Murphy)
