The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Results from Annual Financial Audit for the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2023 (Mr. Traxler)
 
State law requires school districts audited financial statement to be submitted to the South Carolina Department of Education by December 1 each year.
 
  1. Consideration to Designate a Portion of Fund Balance (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Board has the ability to commit a portion of fund balance for designated purposes.Committed fund balance would be reflected as such in each year’s financial statements.Any repurposing or uncommitting of the designation would be handled through action of the School Board.
 
  1. Proposed Incentive for Teacher Recruitment (Mrs. Hart & Mr. Traxler)
 
Our District, like many others, continues to deal with a shortage of teachers.With lower number of graduating new teachers and increasing numbers of teachers leaving the profession, the applicant pool is smaller and competition for the best is tighter.The greatest impact of this shortage is in the content areas of Middle and Secondary Math and Science as well as Special Education.The Administration is seeking an incentive to assist in the recruitment of these teachers.
 
  1. GMP #3 for the Building Construction and Construction Documents drawings/budget for the New Wagener-Salley High Project from McMillian Pazdan Smith Architecture. (Dr. Murphy)
 
H.G. Reynolds Company, Inc. has received bids for CM at Risk for the New Wagener-Salley High Project.
 
 

B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
  1. Out-District Transfer Requests (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to receiving district.”
 
  1. Chandler Law Firm/Everett Chandler Donation to Leavelle McCampbell Middle School – FY23 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Leavelle McCampbell Middle School was given a $1,200.00 donation from Everett Chandler of the Chandler Law Firm. The funds from this donation will be used to purchase athletic shoes and travel items/uniforms for the Boys’ Basketball Team members.
 
  1. South Carolina Arts Commission-Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Grant Submission – New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School- FY24. (Dr. Edwards)
 
New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School is requesting to submit a grant application for the South Carolina Arts Commission for the Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Grant in the amount of $12,500.00.

In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project LS3P Associates LTD., and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Report for the Hammond Hill Elementary School Additions and Renovation Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project Cheatham Fletcher Scott (CFS), and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
