  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Revision to Policy JICDA – Code of Student Conduct, Second Reading (Dr. Murphy)
 
Policy JICDA code of Conduct states in part, “The board will annually review and adopt a code of student conduct for all students…. The code establishes guidelines for students, parents, teachers and administrators in maintaining an orderly and appropriate school environment.”Currently, the code of student conduct includes the use of possession of “e-cigarettes, vapors, oils, etc.” in the category of tobacco-related products.The consequence of these infractions on first offense ranges from a parent conference and in-school suspension in elementary school to out-of-school suspension in high school
 
  1. Proposed Salary Scale for Sped Bus Driver, Sped Bus Monitors, and Sped Aides (Mrs. Hart)
 
Out District, like many others, continues to deal with a critical shortage of special education bus drivers, bus monitors, and aides.Transporting medically-fragile students and assisting students with special needs throughout the day requires additional levels of responsibility and care.
 

B.CONSENT ITEMS:   The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
 
  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)
 
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section
 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school.  Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers In (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFAB allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.  The policy stipulates that non-resident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation.  The Board will nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA admission of resident students. The district may charge tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.”
 
 
  1. Submission of Grant Application by the Division of Human Resources and Administration for the South Carolina School Boards Insurance Trust Risk Control Grant – FY 23 (Mrs. Hart)
 
The Division of Human Resources and Administration would like to submit a grant application for a $54,629.96 South Carolina School Boards Insurance Trust Risk Control Grant.
 
 
  1. Public Education Partners (PEP) of Aiken County Grant Awards to the Aiken County Public School District – FY23 (Dr. Edwards)
 
The Aiken County Public School District has received $3,862.78 in grant awards from the Public Education Partners (PEP) of Aiken County.The funds will be used to fund eight ACPSD teacher grant awards.
 
  1. Textbook Adoptions for 2022-2023 (Mrs. Dove)
 
The District examines and evaluates textbooks adopted by the State for use in the classroom and recommends to the School Board those selected by teacher committees for our district.Upon approval by the School Board and funding by the State, schools may proceed to order those textbooks from the State Textbook Depositary.
 
  1. Construction Bids for Secured Entry Lobby for Chukker Creek Elementary (Dr. Murphy)
 
Bids were received for the Construction Bids for Chukker Creek Elementary Secured Entry Lobby Project on November 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened.
 
 
  1. 2023 Replacement of Exterior Signs at Busbee Elementary, Greendale Elementary, Schofield Middle, and Silver Bluff High (Dr. Murphy)
 
Bids were received for the 2023 Replacement of Exterior Signs at Busbee Elementary, Greendale Elementary, Schofield Middle, and Silver Bluff High on October 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. and publicly opened.
 
  1. 2023 South Aiken High and Aiken High Canopy Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
Bids were received for the 2023 South Aiken High and Aiken High Canopy Project on November 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. and publicly opened.
