In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project the Architects for this project, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.

In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for the project, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Reports for the Millbrook Elementary Additions & Renovation Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for the project, Goodwyn Mills and Cawood (GMC) and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.

  1. Construction Status Reports for the Ridge Spring-Monetta Elementary Phase 3 Addition Project (Dr. Murphy)

B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
 
  1. Aiken County Association for Special Citizens Grant Donation to North Augusta High School – FY21 (Mrs. Glover)
 
North Augusta High School was given an $1,800.00 grant donation from the Aiken County Association for Special Citizens.The funds from this donation will be used to purchase equipment and supplies for their Adaptive Physical Education program.
 
  1. Chandler Law Firm/Everett Chandler Donation to A.L. Corbett Middle School – FY21 (Mrs. Glover)
 
A.L. Corbett Middle School was given a $2,000.00 donation from Everett Chandler of Chandler Law Firm.The funds from this donation will be used to purchase athletic shoes for the Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Team members.
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for Aiken Elementary School – FY22 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department is requesting to submit a $20,000 grant application for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance for Aiken Elementary School.The funds from this grant would be used to purchase two Warmers and one Pass-Thru Cooler for the cafeteria.
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for Aiken Intermediate School – FY22 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department is requesting to submit a $22,600 grant application for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance for Aiken Intermediate School.The funds from this grant would be used to purchase one Cold Serving Counter and one Hot Serving Counter for the cafeteria.
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for A.L. Corbett Middle School – FY22 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department is requesting to submit a $23,000 grant application for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance for A.L. Corbett Middle School.The funds from this grant would be used to purchase one Steamer and one Warmer for the cafeteria.
 
 
 
 
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for Byrd Elementary School – FY22 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department is requesting to submit a $11,000 grant application for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance for Byrd Elementary School.The funds from this grant would be used to purchase one Dual Stack Oven for the cafeteria.
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for Jefferson Elementary School – FY22 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department is requesting to submit a $23,000 grant application for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance for Jefferson Elementary School.The funds from this grant would be used to purchase one Steamer and one Pass-Thru Cooler for the cafeteria.
 
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for New Ellenton STEAM Middle School – FY22 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department is requesting to submit a $20,000 grant application for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance for New Ellenton STEAM Middle School.  The funds from this grant would be used to purchase one Warmer and one Dual Temperature Cooler, and one freezer for the cafeteria.
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for North Augusta Elementary School – FY22 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department is requesting to submit a $25,000 grant application for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance for North Augusta Elementary School.  The funds from this grant would be used to purchase two Warmers and two Pass-Thru Coolers for the cafeteria.
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for Redcliffe Elementary School – FY22 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department is requesting to submit a $25,000 grant application for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance for Redcliffe Elementary School.  The funds from this grant would be used to purchase two Warmers and two Pass-Thru Coolers for the cafeteria.
 
 
 
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for Warrenville Elementary School – FY22 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department is requesting to submit a $15,000 grant application for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance for Warrenville Elementary School.  The funds from this grant would be used to purchase one Steamer for the cafeteria.
 
  1. Local School Board Courses for 2020-21 (Mrs. Glover)
 
The school board must approve locally designed courses annually.Eight courses are being submitted to add to the previously approved course listing from June 9, 2020.
 
  1. Membership of the Aiken County Public School District Head Start/Early Head Start Policy Council (Mrs. Glover)
 
In June 2020, Aiken County Public Schools was awarded a five-year Head Start / Early Head Start grant beginning July 1, 2020.Section 642 of the Head Start Act requires grant agencies to establish and maintain a formal structure for program governance, including a policy council to advise on program operation and design and assist in the development of long and short-term planning goals and objectives.Policy Council Bylaws were approved by the ACPSD school board members on November 17, 2020.These bylaws require the governing body to approve the membership policy council, of which 51 percent should be parents of children participating in Head Start. The policy council must also include an ACPSD board member to serve as an ex-officio member and an alternate board member to serve in the absence of the appointed or elected board member.
 
  1. Conceptual Authorization for Easement Negotiation at Graniteville Elementary (Dr. Murphy)
 
A request from the developer adjacent to Graniteville Elementary property who is needing to arrange 3 utility easements to be granted from the Aiken County School Board.These conceptual easements approvals are subject to further stormwater review, platting, and easement deeds.None of these requests appear to be adverse to District interests:
 
  • Sewer easement near and along northern property line with VPSA
     
  • Storm drainage easement across the western staff parking lot with ALR Townhouses, LLC
     
  • Power easement along western property line with Dominion Energy
 
 
 
 
  1. Board Room audio-visual upgrade through the purchase and installation of live-streaming equipment and a technical support contract (Mr. Rosier)
 
The Board of Education Communications Committee achieved one of its primary goals in July when board meetings began to be streamed live on the internet.This has increased the outreach of board meetings and information exponentially, with livestreamed meetings having already accumulated over 85,000 views.Meetings are being livestreamed currently with a cell phone and microphone.The committee wishes to enhance the audio-visual quality of our livestreamed meetings through an upgrade of our current equipment.This action would significantly increase the quality of our broadcasts and provide a better online experience for stakeholders.

  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human resources Department and interviewed and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Changes to Policy GCC Professional Staff Leaves and Absences and Policy GDC Support Staff Leaves and Absences, First Reading (Mrs. Hart)
 
Policies GCC and GDC establish the basic structure for all type of professional and support staff leaves and absences.
 
  1. Criteria for Changing Instructional Model During Pandemic (Mr. Laurence)
 
At its regular meeting on November 17, 2020, the Board directed the Superintendent to establish a tiered threshold system based on data provided by the CDC, SCDHEC, school district leaders, and the back to school advisory committee to determine which model – virtual, hybrid, full-time face to face – will be used in schools.
 
  1. Participation in Interscholastic Athletic Competition During Pandemic (Mr. Laurence)
 
At its regular meeting on November 17, 2020, the Board directed the Superintendent and the Board Chair to include as an agenda item a discussion as to whether athletics should be postponed.
