1.         Legislative Update (Mr. Liner)
 
 
 
 
  1. CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group.  Individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
 
 
1.         2017 Graduation Ceremonies in USC-A Convocation Center (Dr. Foster)
 
            Since 2009 graduation ceremonies have been held in the Convocation Center.  The schools have been supportive of this.  The Convocation Center has been very accommodating to the schools for the graduation exercises.
 
 
 
 
2.         Report of Sole Source/Emergency Purchases for the Fiscal Year ended June 30, 2016 (Mr. Traxler)
 
            The District Procurement Code IX-C requires annual reporting of the purchases made under the sole source and emergency provisions of the Code.          
 
 
 
 
3.         Report of Minority Purchases for the Fiscal Year ended June 30, 2016 (Mr. Traxler)
 
            The District Procurement Code IVI-B-4 requires an annual reporting of purchases made from minority vendors.
 
 
 
4.         Neglected and Delinquent Grant Application (Dr. Washington)
 
            Public Law 107-110, Title I, Part D: Prevention and Intervention Programs for Children and Youth Who Are Neglected, Delinquent, or At-Risk is designed to support the operation of local educational agency programs that involve collaboration with locally operated correctional or residential facilities (1) to carry out high quality education programs to prepare children and youth for secondary school completion, training, employment, or further education; (2) to provide activities to facilitate the transition of such children and youth from the correctional program to further education or employment; (3) to operate programs in local schools for children and youth returning from correctional facilities and programs which may serve at-risk children and youth.  Aiken County Public School District’s allocation is $43,975.41.
 
 
 
5.         Sunshine House Donation to East Aiken School of the Arts – FY17 (Dr. Washington)
 
            East Aiken School of the Arts was given a $1,960.55 donation from Sunshine House.  The funds from this donation will be used to purchase general supplies and furniture.
 
 
 
6.         Sunshine House Donation to Chukker Creek Elementary School-FY17 (Dr. Washington)
 
            Chukker Creek Elementary School was given $4,558.11 donation from Sunshine House.  The funds from this donation will be used to purchase instructional materials and general supplies, software licenses, and technology supplies.
 
 
 
7.         Sunshine House Donation to Hammond Hill Elementary School FY17 (Dr. Washington)
 
            Hammond Hill Elementary School was given a $2,356.77 donation from Sunshine House.  The funds from this donation will be used to purchase a Fountas and Pinnell Level 2 reading intervention kit and general supplies. (Dr. Washington)
 
 
 
8.         Public Education Partners Grant to Jackson Middle School-FY17 (Dr. Washington)
 
            Jackson Middle School was awarded $3,914.00 from Public Education Partners to purchase technology and supplies for the Project Lead the Way initiative.  Specifically, funds will be used to purchase an Energy and Environment Module and start-up supplies for this program.  Funds were made possible for this project through Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.
 
 
9.         Out-of-District Transfer Request (Mr. Laurence)
 
            Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school district for the interchange of students.  The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district”.
 
10.       Allnex USA, Inc. Donation to Midland Valley High School – FY17 (Dr. Washington)
 
            Midland Valley High School was given a $1,500.00 donation from Allnex, USA, Inc.  The funds from this donation will be used to replace the outfield fence on the softball field.
 
 
11.       Changes to Administrative Rule AR IJOA Field Trips – (Mr. Laurence)       
 
            The District’s present rule requires that all out of state and overnight field trips be submitted to the superintendent’s cabinet for approval.  It also makes reference to academic officers and includes no specific provision for international travel.

            The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Personnel Services Department and interviewed and approved by the Principal and Executive Directors.
