3.          Construction Status Reports for the Jackson Middle School Additions Project (Mr. Caver)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, Craig, Gaulden & Davis Architecture, and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
 
 
4.          Construction Status Reports for the A.L. Corbett Middle School Gym Restroom Additions Project (Mr. Caver)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, Craig, Gaulden & Davis Architecture, and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.            
 
 
 
5.            Construction Status Reports for the Aiken High School Phase I Project (Mr. Caver)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, LS3P Associates LTD., and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
 
 
6.           Construction Status Reports for the Byrd Learning Center (BLC) Food Service Operation Center Project (Mr. Caver)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, LS3P Associates LTD., and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
7.            Technology Update – Status of Migration Project and Status of Wireless in Schools (Mr. Caver and Mr. Stanley)    
 
During the budget planning process for the 2012-2013 school year, the administration identified two major technology initiatives that would require additional funding.   1) Migration to a new operating system platform (i.e. Upgrade from the Novell Operating System to Windows) was budgeted at an estimated cost of 1.5 million dollars. 2) Completion of the wireless infrastructure in thirteen remaining buildings.   Twenty-five school buildings have wireless overlays completed. An additional $400,000 dollars was added to complete the remaining thirteen schools in the school district.
 
 
 
 
B.                 CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group. Individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
 
 
1.                  Out-of-District Transfer Request (Dr. Stowe)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
 
 
2.                  2012-2013 Aiken County Gifted and Talented Academic/Artistic Plan (Mr. Laurence)
 
The Office of Federal Programs has completed the Gifted and Talented Academic and Artistic Plan as required by the South Carolina Department of Education. This plan describes the curriculum and instructional models that are offered in attaining the goal of a common service delivery model for all schools. The artistic component focuses on increasing student interest and participation, with anticipated annual increases. The Plan will be updated annually and submitted to the South Carolina Department of Education with the necessary revisions.
 
 
 
3.                  Dollar General Literacy Foundation Youth Literacy Grant to Busbee-Corbett Elementary/Middle School – FY13 (Mr. Laurence)
 
Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded a $2,000 Youth Literacy Grant to Busbee-Corbett Elementary/Middle School. Funds from this grant will be used to purchase a Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention program for kindergarten to be used with reading intervention students.
 
 
4.                  Dollar General Literacy Foundation Youth Literacy Grant to Jefferson Elementary School – FY13 (Mr. Laurence)
 
Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded a $1,500 Youth Literacy Grant to Jefferson Elementary School. Funds from this grant will be used to purchase a set of Literacy Wings Emergent Readers and three resource kits. These will be used in small group and reading recovery.
 
 
5.                  Funding Flexibility for the Quarter Ending September 30, 2012 (Mr. Traxler)
 
 
6.                  Budget Adjustment #2 (FY13) - Fund #1 (General), Fund #4 (Debt Service) and Fund #6 (School Food Service) (Mr. Traxler)
 
Periodically during the fiscal year, the Division of Fiscal Services submits adjustments to the approved budget as may be required in the conduct of operations.
 
 
7.                  Budget Adjustment #4 (FY12) – Fund #1(General), Fund #2 (Special Revenue), Fund #3 (EIA), and Fund #5 (School Building) (Mr. Traxler)
 
Periodically during the fiscal year, the Division of Fiscal Services submits adjustments to the approved budget as may be required in the conduct of operations.

   1.         Personnel Appointments (Dr. Hewett)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Personnel Services Department and interviewed and approved by the Principal and the Academic Officers.
